The Reluctant Hostess: Party in a Box Begins

Full disclosure -- when I was a kid I dreamed of elegant dinner and cocktail parties with sophisticated conversation and wonderful food. I didn't know about, or think of, the planning, cost, or prep time. In my twenties I was working hard, traveling a lot and "finding" myself. In my thirties I had a few party successes. Just about as good as my dreams but with more work, worry, and stress than I expected. Then came baby and all of my parties were kid-themed, sticky, and for some reason a meltdown from someone was always included -- not by design. Now I am in my forties and still wondering what I want to be when I grow up. My childhood dreams of those elegant sophisticated parties have faded but not disappeared. They are like memory of the sunset over the ocean in the Florida Keys (where I grew up) - colors and beauty can fade but not be forgotten.

So my friend Dina and I decided that in the twenty-first century and in the second half of our lives, YOU CAN have a job you love, have fun, and bring joy to others all at the same time. We are now doing what we love - planning, parting, and sharing all that with you!
