The State of Tea in NOVA

Living in Northern Virginia we are blessed with abundance and variety in almost everything you can think of. Tea is no exception. There are wonderful options to purchase or sip tea in any price range you can name and with Tevanna now owned by Starbucks and Peet's setting up competition you can find a good cup of tea on almost every corner. What is more elusive is a good tea room. A place to relax, think and converse quietly with friends. But even in this category Northern Virginians have a few good options without crossing the river

But what if you want the pinnacle of tea? What if you want the "Afternoon Tea' experience? For a lark or a special event - where in a NOVA can you have Afternoon tea? Well if you have read this blog before you know I like to keep things easy and the easiest way to get GREAT "Afternoon Tea" is to call the Ritz-Carlton. Choose Pentagon City for a more clubby feel and Tyson's corner for sunshiney open feel.

1250 S Hayes St | Arlington, VA 703-415-5000

1700 Tysons Blvd | McLean, VA 703-506-4300 Dina and I choose the Pentagon location to inspire our Tea Bash and we had so much fun! The food was great, the service was excellent, the atmosphere relaxing and posh at the same time. There are some other choices in the area and they come with good reviews, but hands down the Ritz Carleton is the most accommodating for time, and number of tea drinkers (we had only 4 people in our party). Here are some other local options:

303 Commerce Street |Occoquan, VA 22125 703-491-5216

  • Green Springs Garden in Annandale offers tea in an historic house on the property at set times most summers.

Green Springs Gardens | 4603 Green Spring Road | Lincolnia, VA

703-941-7987

But if you want something almost as easy as the Ritz-Carlton - check out the Tea Bash. There are no waiters but you get to set the tone and everyone gets a nice party gift.

Cheers!
