Cocktail Party: The Reluctant Hostess Throws Her first Bash

Ok Bash number 2 should be a piece of cake, right? The cocktail party is a classic and on the surface it seems like a piece of cake. It’s just hors d'oeuvres right?

Then you start looking at the books and websites and it all becomes overwhelming. Did you know there are rules for throwing a cocktail party? Add to that Dina put me in charge of creating the cocktail content and the pressure was on.

Full Disclosure time again: I am the business end of this partnership and Dina is the creative one. I keep track of cost, inventory and licensing. But I had to take the lead on this one so the pressure was on.

When it comes to parties I know what I want but not always how to get there. Are you like that too? Hopefully I made all the mistakes so you don't have to. Here is what happened before anyone was even invited…

  • I made way too many appetizers for the taste test (thanks hubbies for helping with taste testing)

  • The trays I ordered arrived scratched and some the wrong size

  • I ordered way too many tooth picks

Then Dina swooped in to quality check, advise, organize and generally make everything much, much better. It’s great to have friends you can trust and a business partner you can rely on! Somehow we got it all together in time to test the party timeline and send the invitations to 20 of our closest friends.

What, 20 people in my house at one time for the first time since we moved in six years ago... AM I CRAZY. Maybe, but you should be crazy too. This is what happened.

I followed the timeline and Dina’s revised recipes. I made sure to relax and have a starter cocktail before the guest arrived and the Cocktail Party was FABULOUS! SIMPLY FABULOUS! I had friends tell me two weeks later how much fun they had. I got great feedback on the business idea, a few marketing leads and best of all I had fun! It made all the doubts and tester cocktail meatballs worth it.

We believe that we can't launch Bash-in-a-Box without a classic like the Cocktail party so it was a relief that the party went so well for me as the Reluctant Hostess and for all our guests. We hope when you try the Cocktail Bash experience it will be just as FABULOUS for you and your guests.

P.S. – We were supposed to have the cocktail party last 2 hours - "cocktail party rules" -- but it lasted about 4 hours. We were having so much fun I just couldn't shepherd everyone out on time. Plus I was so relaxed I didn't want the party to end -- what more can you ask from one Cocktail Bash?

Cheers!
